Barkingside Methodist Church

"Enabling discipleship, celebrating differences in worship and action."

Sunday Worship at 9.30 am

Our doors are wide open to people from all backgrounds, regardless of where they are on their spiritual journey. Together we try to be the kind of church described in the Bible where there is relevant teaching, heart-felt worship, honest friendship, constant prayer, and compassionate care for those in need. We aim to practice the kind of uplifting Christianity that can influence and encourage the entire community. Our worshippers can choose to receive a weekly news sheet keeping them in touch with church life. Personal contact is regularly maintained by our pastoral visitors who offer a listening ear and where possible support to those who request it.  Our membership is 38 (November 2023).

'As Disciples of Jesus Christ we seek to:

develop our own relationship with God;

welcome everyone to worship;

make new followers of Jesus Christ;

serve our Community.'

We strive to share the love of Jesus with one another and our 'neighbour' by:

  • Underpinning everything we do with worship and prayer;

  • Celebrating differences in our church life;

  • Nurturing a culture which is people - centred and flexible;

  • Nurturing our young people in faith and helping them to develop their worship and discipleship;

  • Supporting justice, especially alongside the most deprived and poor people in Britain and across the world.

  • Encouraging new ways of worship and action in our community

  • Valuing God's creation and working to preserve it

  • Developing confidence in speaking of God and faith in ways that make sense to all involved.'
